Adam Boring

(Adventure Guide)

Born in the Great Smokey Mountains and raised in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, being outside and in the woods was not unusual while growing up. Adam’s love for all things natural began at a young age. From playing hide and seek in the woods and building forts and tree houses in grade school to climbing mountain tops and waterfalls in high school, Adam found himself always drawn to the outdoors. In 2014 while studying psychology at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise, Adam was told of an occupation that combined the best of two worlds into one: Wilderness Therapy. Adam could share his love of the great outdoors while helping people at the same time! Shortly thereafter he graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology.

Currently working for Family Preservation Services as a mental health counselor has earned him the credentials for being a QMHP-A/C or a Qualified Mental Health Professional for Adults and Children. While Wilderness Therapy is still a work in progress for Adam on his career path, being a guide for Stone Mountain Adventures LLC and sharing his evergrowing knowledge of local plant and animal life, love for hiking, survival skills, love for theenvironment, and breathtaking views is not considered a job, but a joy in every day he gets to spendwith others “on the trail”. Adam enjoys learning the “old ways” of past generations such as canning, cooking, natural remedies, and home crafting with his wife Amber, son Sage, and daughter Ivy. He has attended Wilderness Survival classes and wants to become a Master Naturalist one day.
